The SIDEWALKS team brought back some great photos from the very first Silicon Valley Comic Con. Check out pics from the convention, which included the creative designs from the Costume Contest.
Hosts Richard R. Lee & Lori Rosales and photographers Rebeca Zuniga & J.P. Langston attended the inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose, CA on March 19, 2016.
The concept of Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) was to bring together America’s two greatest superheroes: Pop Culture and Technology. Presented by Steve Wozniak, the true pioneer (along with Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs) of the personal computer revolution of the 1970s, SVCC featured celebrities, comics, independent artists, cosplay, video games, consumer electronics, music and apps. In the developers’ mind, Silicon Valley Comic Con is where entertainment and the electronic worlds intersect.
Some of the highlights from the 2016 show was a Back to the Future: Adventures in a DeLorean Time Machine (featuring the the vehicles of the popular movie series); Madame Tussauds Wax Museum (presenting the debut appearance of Mr. Wozniak’s wax figure, pictured right); Stan Lee Museum (the comic master’s collectibles of photos and illustrations); ScreenUsed Memorabilia Auction (featuring film props, such as “Back to the Future’s” Doc’s Mind Reading Helmet, “Spider-Man 3’s” Spiderman’s Boots worn by Tobey Maguire, and “X2: X-Men United’s” Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws worn by Hugh Jackman); and Rancho Obi-Wan Museum (a museum with the largest collection of “Sta Wars” memorabilia).
Some of the celebrity guests included Stan Lee (founder of Marvel Comics), William Shatner (“Boston Legal,” “Star Trek”), Nathan Fillion (“Castle,” “Firefly”), Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite,” “Blades of Glory”), Jeremy Renner (“The Hurt Locker,” Marvel’s “The Avengers”), Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”), cosplayer Valerie Perez, and “Back to The Future” stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson reunited.
