Part 1 of a two-part special look at TV/Film’s elite Composers. First up: meet Jim Dooley, Marco Beltrami and Michael Suby.
When you hear about films or TV shows, most of the time the press (and studios themselves) talk primarily about the actors, directors, producers or writers. However, there are a group of individuals who can make a strong influence in how you experience or view a scene. Their work can make you smile one minute, be sad the next, or help you get excited for an action-packed scene without you knowing it. They are the composers…bringing background music to life.
Backstage at WonderCon 2011, “Sidewalks Entertainment” had a rare opportunity to interview some of the industry’s elite film/TV composers, following their seminar, “Behind the Music with CW3PR: Composing for Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy Film & TV.”
For most, this is their first time in front of the camera and getting the spotlight they truly deserve. ”Sidewalks” special correspondent Laurren Cowan talks to composers Nathan Barr (“True Blood,” “The Last Exorcism”), Marco Beltrami (“V,” “Scream 4”), Sean Callery (“24”), Jim Dooley (“Pushing Daisies”), Scott Starrett (“The Event”), and Michael Suby (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”).
