The actor / writer / TV pitchman talks to SIDEWALKS host Cindy Rhodes about his career, the decision to end “Star Trek” as feature films with the original cast and if he wanted to continue, and his voice role as General Shanker in “Escape From Planet Earth.” Plus, host Richard R. Lee introduces some people acting out a famous Captain Kirk line and Richard gets a surprise message from Mr. Shatner.
Mini-Biography:
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the versatile William Shatner has pretty much done everything in show business. He is best known for playing Captain James T. Kirk in the original “Star Trek” series, as well as “Star Trek: The Animated Series” (voice), numerous video games, and seven big screen adventures. He also have books about “Star Trek” and novels set in the universe of the long-running franchise. Additionally, Shatner wrote and directed the documentary “The Captains.” Shatner starred in “T.J. Hooker,” “The Practice,” “Boston Legal,” “$#*! My Dad Says,” and was the host of “Rescue 911.” He also wrote novels and appeared in “TekWar,” which were adapted as TV-movies and a brief TV series. Other guest starring roles include “The Outlaws,” “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The Twilight Zone,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “Columbo,” “The Rookies,” “Kung Fu,” “Ironside,” “Mission: Impossible,” and “Gunsmoke.” On the big screen, Shatner co-starred in “Miss Congeniality,” sequel “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous,” “Airplane II: The Sequel,” “Free Enterprise,” “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story,” and “National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon.” Since the late 1990s, Shatner has done a series of popular commercials for Priceline.
