In this 2009 interview with then-SIDEWALKS host Rafael Siegel, Trisha talked about her amazing country career and whether she would consider competing in Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” reality show. As part of the promotional tour, Trisha told us about her involvement with one of the nation’s top charities, Habitat for Humanity, which is devoted to building “simple, decent, and affordable” housing. She was in Tulsa as part of the Women Build program that includes all-women building crews.

Born in Monticello, Georgia, Trisha Yearwood is one of the leading female country music superstars. She is a three-time Grammy® award winner, a two-time Country Music Association Awards® winner and a two-time Academy of Country Music Awards® winner. Yearwood made her debut in 1991 with the #1 hit single, “She’s in Love with the Boy.” Four of her albums have been certified Platinum and five have been certified Gold. She has also charted a total of 38 singles on Billboard’s “Hot Country Songs” chart, and five of these have reached the #1 spot. In 2005, she married another country superstar, Garth Brooks. Outside of country music, Yearwood is a culinary star with cookbooks (“Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen,” “Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood,” “Trisha’s Table: My Feel-Good Favorites for a Balanced Life”) and a hit cooking show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.”
