Interview: Rico E. Anderson (2018)

He’s back! Rico E. Anderson gives us an update on his growing career as an actor, with recent appearances on Fox’s “The Orville,” CBS’ reboot of “S.W.A.T.,” and film “5th Passenger.” Plus, he talks about his role as Officer Dan in Kraft’s Macaroni and Cheese TV commercial and gives career advice to actors.

Recorded at Silicon Valley Comic Con, SIDEWALKS host Richard R. Lee is reunited with Rico E. Anderson for a second interview. In the full interview, they talk about Anderson’s guest appearance on the FOX’s sci-fi series “The Orville,” his role as Officer Dan in a series of Kraft Foods commercials, wearing prosthetic makeup, and career advice for rising actors.

Mini-Biography:
Born in Seaside/Monterey, CA and raised in Chicago and in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rico E. Anderson‘s breakthrough role was in the 2005 Academy Award® Winning short, “Mighty Times: The Children’s March” where he portrayed civil rights activist, Shelley “The Playboy” Stewart. He also played Danny Glover’s son in “The Harimaya Bridge” and comedy “Hole In One.” Anderson has been working steadily in Hollywood guest-starring in numerous popular series, including “Rosewood,” “Young & Hungry,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Fosters,” “NCIS,” “Modern Family,” “Criminal Minds,” “K.C. Undercover,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Mike & Molly,” “2 Broke Girls,” “Dollhouse,” “Days of our Lives,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Murder in the First,” “Weeds,” ” Sullivan & Son,” “Justified,” “The Shield,” and the season finale of the rebooted “S.W.A.T.” Anderson appeared in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” feature film and in the pilot for the online series, “Star Trek: Renegades,” as well as working with various “Trek” stars in other projects, such as “5th Passenger” and “The Assassin’s Apprentice.” Anderson has done regional theater work, including “The Ballad of Emmett Till,” “Lyons in Fences,” Ray Bradbury’s “Kaleidoscope,” “Oedipus,” “For The Love of Freedom-Trilogy,” “Graffiti Blues,” “The Meeting as Malcolm X,” “Bed of Truth,” “Equus,” and “A Soldiers Play.” He also plays Officer Dan in the Kraft Macaroni & Cheese commercials.
