SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to Nick Offerman about his fight choreographer skills, his life as a wood craftsman, his memories of “Parks and Recreation,” and working on FX on Hulu’s “Devs” with writer and director Alex Garland.
Mini-Biography:
Born in Joliet, Illinois and grew up in Minooka, Nick Offerman is known for his role as Ron Swanson in NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” On TV, he played Karl Weathers in “Fargo,” Randy in “George Lopez,” Officer Chance Briggs in “Childrens Hospital,” and is one of hosts of NBC’s “Making It.” In films, Offerman played Richard McDonald, in “The Founder,” Karl Steele in “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous,” “Deputy Chief Hardy in the “21 Jump Street” and its sequel, Victor Gaines in “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” DEA Agent Parker in “Casa de mi padre,” and many others. He has done many voice overs in projects, including “Hotel Transylvania 2,” “Ice Age: Collision Course,” “Sing,” “The Lego Movie” films, ” 3 Below,” “Axe Cop,” and “Son of Zorn.” He starred in and produced the independent film called “Somebody Up There Likes Me” (2012). Outside of acting, he owns Offerman Woodshop, a small collective of woodworkers. Offerman wrote three semi-autobiographical publications “Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Fundamentals for Delicious Living,” “Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America’s Gutsiest Troublemakers,” and “Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop.”
