SIDEWALKS host Cindy Rhodes talks to the former Ikette about her musical career, how she went into the restaurant business, and how she got the attention of Oprah Winfrey and OWN to air her reality show, “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s,” a 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Reality Series.
Mini-Biography:
Robbie Montgomery, known simply as Miss Robbie, began her professional musical career in the 1960’s as one of The Ikettes, a backing group for Ike and Tina Turner. After ending her singing career (her lung collapsed), she opened “Sweetie Pie’s,” a St. Louis soul food restaurant run by Miss Robbie and her family.
