A television staple, Meredith Vieira, who was born in Providence, Rhode Island and raised in East Providence, has covered most major news stories during the past three decades, including presidential elections and The Olympics. Along with her time as a news personality for CBS News, she is known for being the original moderator of ABC’s “The View,” co-host on NBC’s morning program “Today,” and was the original host of the syndicated version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” Recently, she hosted her own daytime talk show and is still a special correspondent for NBC News.
