SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro welcomes singer Kelly Rowland and the winners of next female R&B group that was chosen on BET’s “Chasing Destiny” on May 17, 2016. The winners are Brienna Devlugt, Gabby Carreiro, Shyann Roberts, Ashly Williams, and Kristal Smith.
Mini-Biographies:
Superstar singer and actress Kelly Rowland is best known as one of the founding members (along with Beyonce) of Destiny’s Child, the bestselling girl group of all-time. Rowland is a four-time Grammy Award-winning pop and R&B songstress and songwriter (three Grammies with Destiny’s Child and one Grammy as a solo artist). Rowland, who was born in Atlanta, raised in both Atlanta and Houston, and currently lives in Sugar Land, Texas, honed her acting chops starring in the blockbuster motion picture “Freddy vs. Jason,” as well as the Will Smith-produced feature film “The Seat Filler.” A spokesperson for Youth AIDS and a participant in the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, Rowland and Beyonce are also the founders of the “Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth,” a multi-purpose community outreach facility in downtown Houston.

- Brienna Devlugt is 22 years old and from From Princeton, NJ.
- “Gabby Zeke” Carreiro is 19 years old and from Glendale, CA.
- Shyann Roberts is 19 years old and from St. Petersburg, FL.
- Ashly Williams is 26 years old and from Compton, CA.
- Kristal Smith is 26 years old and Charlotte, NC.
