SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to actress Karla-Simone Spence and author Sara Collins about the period drama series, “The Confessions of Frannie Langton,” as well as Karla-Simone’s career start and Sara going from lawyer to writer.

Mini-Biographies:
Born in South London, Karla-Simone Spence plays the titular role of Frannie Langton in “The Confessions of Frannie Langton.” Before that, she played Amber in four episodes of “Wannabe” and Cali Okello in the BBC miniseries “Gold Digger.” In films, Spence was seen as Anna in “Nine Nights” and Leah in “Blue Story.” On stage, the actress was Aida in the 2022 production of “House of Ife.”
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sara Collins was a lawyer for around 17 years before obtaining a Master’s degree in creative writing with distinction from Cambridge University in 2016, where she was the recipient of the Michael Holroyd prize. Her debut novel, “The Confessions of Frannie Langton,” a gothic romance about the twisted love affair between a Jamaican maid and her French mistress in 19th century London, was shortlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Prize and is the winner of the 2019 Costa First Novel Award. Along with Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza, she is one of the executive producers on the TV series.
