SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to Jon M. Chu about his start of his filmmaking career, making the “Justin Bieber” concert film, the success of “Crazy Rich Asians,” and working on the Apple TV+ series, “Home Before Dark,” a program he’s executive producing and directing.
Mini-Biography:
Born in Palo Alto, California and grew up in Los Altos, Jon M. Chu is a filmmaker. He is known for directing “Crazy Rich Asians,” “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Now You See Me 2,” “Jem and the Holograms,” “Step Up 2: The Streets,” “Step Up 3D,” and the Justin Bieber concert films “Never Say Never” and “Believe.” His next directing assignment is “In the Heights,” based on the Broadway musical of the same name. On television, he is an executive producer for “Good Trouble,” “S2dio City,” “The Arena,” “Masterclass,” “Remixed,” and “Home Before Dark,” as well as the web series, “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.”
