Recorded at Creation Entertainment’s “Star Trek” convention in San Francisco, SIDEWALKS host Richard R. Lee interviews the actor about his various TV roles, including his well known part as “Q” on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” He also talks about “Days of Our Lives, “Legend” and “Breaking Bad.”
Mini-Biography:
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, actor John de Lancie has been acting in TV and film roles since the late 70’s, with guest roles in classic series like “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “Emergency!” He became known for his role as Eugene Bradford on the daytime drama, “Days of Our Lives,” but went on to superstardom as “Q” on the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” pilot, “Encounter at Farpoint,” and following guest appearances on “TNG,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” and “Star Trek” video games. De Lancie also co-starred in the short-lived action western “Legend,” had a recurring role in “Stargate: SG-1,” and was in the miniseries “The Thorn Birds.” Some of his TV appearances are “Breaking Bad,” “The West Wing,” “Charmed,” “MacGyver,” “Murder, She Wrote,” ”Picket Fences,” “The Practice,” “The Unit,” “Law & Order: LA,” and “Torchwood: Miracle Day,” along with film parts in “The Onion Field,” “The Fisher King,” “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle,” “Reign Over Me,” “My Apocalypse,” and “You Lucky Dog.” On stage, he is a member of The American Shakespeare Festival, The Seattle Repertory Company, South Coast Repertory, The Mark Taper Forum, and the Old Globe. Along with Leonard Nimoy, de Lancie is a co-owner of Alien Voices that produces radio-style dramatization of classic science fiction, such as “The Time Machine,” “A Journey to the Center of the Earth,” “The Lost World,” “The Invisible Man,” “The First Men in the Moon,” among others.
