Lee talks to actor Joe Flanigan about his beginnings as a writer, his time on “General Hospital” and “Stargate Atlantis,” his attempt to save his sci-fi show from ending, what he likes to do in his spare time, and how he’s trying to help the victims of the Woolsey Fire.
Mini-Biography:
Born in Los Angeles, California, Joe Flanigan is best known for his five season portrayal of Major/Lt. Colonel John Sheppard on “Stargate Atlantis.” After graduation from University of Colorado, he had a writing career for publications like Town & Country and Interview magazine. Additionally, he worked in the White House for President George Bush Sr. On television, Flanigan starred in CBS’ “First Monday” and had recurring roles on noteworthy shows, such as “Sisters,” “Cupid,” “Providence,” “Profiler,” and “Women’s Murder Club.” Currently, he is recurring as Dr. Neil Byrne on ABC’s “General Hospital.” Some of film credits are “Family Album,” “The Other Sister,” “Farewell to Harry,” “Good Day For It,” and “Ferocious Planet.” The father of three boys is on the board of Malibu Foundation, a non-profit organization that is working to help Southern California rebuild and recover after the Woolsey Fire (Flanigan lost his home in 2018 from the destructive fire).
