Interviewed by SIDEWALKS host Maaika Westen, Jodie talks about her start as a Coppertone Girl, how she selects her roles, and what she likes to do beyond acting and directing. Additionally, she tells us about her role as director and lead actress in “The Beaver,” co-starring Mel Gibson.

Mini-Biography:
Born in Los Angeles, Jodie Foster is actress, director and producer, who has been nominated and won an Academy Award® twice as best actress for “The Accused” and “The Silence of the Lambs.”

While she began in commercials at the age of 3, Jodie’s early career saw her appearing in TV shows, such as Mayberry R.F.D., Gunsmoke, Daniel Boone, The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, The Partridge Family and Adam-12.

Jodie made her film debut in the TV-movie, “Menace on the Mountain” and started in a number of Disney movies, including “Napoleon and Samantha“ and “One Little Indian.”

In 1976, she played the preteen prostitute Iris in “Taxi Driver,” where she received a nomination for the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress.

Other films include: ”The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane,” ”Nell, “Maverick,” “Contact,” “Panic Room,” “Flightplan,” ”Inside Man,” ”The Brave One,” and “Nim’s Island.”
