In the extended interview, SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to Tony and Jimmy Garoppolo about the inaugural National Signing Day (1st one held May 8, 2019) as SkillsUSA and Klein Tools celebrate and honor aspiring skilled professionals across the United States at National Signing Day events. Additionally, the father and son discuss Jimmy’s football career and Jimmy answers fan questions.
Mini-Biographies:
Born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Jimmy Garoppolo is currently the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. Before that, he was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots, with whom he won two Super Bowls as Tom Brady’s backup quarterback. He played college football at Eastern Illinois from 2010 to 2013.
Jimmy’s dad is Tony, a professional electrician from the Chicago area. After 40 years in the trade, Mr. Garoppolo retired in early 2019.
