SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales interviews funny guys James Murray and Joe Gatto about meeting each other, their feature film and working with Paula Abdul, and their most memorable stunts from truTV’s “Impractical Jokers.”
Mini-Biographies:
Both born on Staten Island, New York City, James Murray and Joe Gatto have been friends with Sal Vulcano since high school, and they were members of their high school’s improvisation club. After college, they reunited and formed an improv and sketch comedy troupe, The Tenderloins, along with Mike Boccio (he has since left). In 2007, The Tenderloins won the $100,000 grand prize on NBC’s “It’s Your Show” competition series. In 2011, the troupe (which now includes Brian “Q” Quinn) became the stars of TruTV’s “Impractical Jokers.” Additionally, they starred in the feature film, “Impractical Jokers: The Movie” in early 2020. The Tenderloins started their podcast in 2012. Outside of The Tenderloins, Murray worked at NorthSouth Productions as a Senior Vice President of Development. As an author, he and co-writer Darren Wearmouth released a sci-fi / horror book called “Awakened” and a sequel called “The Brink.” Murray and Wearmouth worked together again for horror novel, “Don’t Move.” Gatto studied at LIU Post, where he received a degree in accounting.
