SIDEWALKS host Cindy Rhodes talks to the actress about her long-active showbiz career, bring nominated for an Academy Award®, and her role as Bradley Cooper’s mom in “Silver Linings Playbook,” co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Chris Tucker.
Mini-Biography:
Born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Jacki Weaver is a theatre, film, and television actress. In the business since the 1960s, her first TV project was the Australian TV series “Wandjina,” while her feature film debut was 1971’s “Stork,” which won her first Australian Film Institute Award.
Other notable films include “Alvin Purple” (1973), “Picnic at Hanging Rock” (1975), “Caddie” (1976), and “Animal Kingdom” (2010), which earned her 1st Academy Award® nomination.
On stage, she was in “A Streetcar Named Desire,” “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” and “Death of a Salesman,” and “Uncle Vanya.”
Weaver made her Hollywood debut with “The Five-Year Engagement” with co-stars Emily Blunt and Jason Segel. This is followed up by “Silver Linings Playbook” (with a 2nd Oscar nomination) and “Stoker.”
