Born in New Cross, South London, Gary Oldman plays Jackson Lamb in “Slow Horses.” He made his film debut in “Remembrance,” then found recognition with British films, “Sid and Nancy,” “Meantime,” and “Prick Up Your Ears.” Renowned for frequently being typecast as the antagonist in numerous films, he has appeared in notable works such as “The Firm,” “JFK,” “True Romance,” “Immortal Beloved,” “The Fifth Element,” “Air Force One,” “Lost in Space,” “Dracula,” “The Contender,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” and “Oppenheimer,” in addition to the “Harry Potter” series and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy. He received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour” (2017) and garnered nominations for his performances in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and “Mank.”
