In the TV version, SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro interviews the director about his film “Kill The Messenger” (based on the true story of journalist Gary Webb, who uncovered the CIA’s role in importing cocaine into the U.S.) and then about his career, which started with still photography and commercials.

Mini-Biography:
Born in New York, Michael Cuesta is a director, who was honored with the Best New Filmmaker Award from the Boston Society of Film Critics for his 2001 feature film debut, “L.I.E.,” where he was the director, screenwriter, and producer. Before being known as a film/TV director, he started his career as a still photographer and commercial director. His other films include “12 and Holding,” “Tell-Tale,” and “Roadie.” With TV, he directed episode(s) of “Six Feet Under,” “Dexter,” “Blue Bloods,” “True Blood,” and “Homeland,” as well as executive produced season one of “Dexter” and the pilots of “Blue Bloods,” “The Oaks,” and “Babylon Fields.”
