Mini-Biography:
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, Charles “Chip” Esten is an actor, singer and comedian. From 1999–2005, he appeared on ABC’s “Whose Line is It Anyway?,” as well as other Drew Carey-hosted programs. In 2012, Esten was cast on “Nashville” (both ABC’s and CMT’s versions) as Deacon Claybourne, a songwriter, lead guitar player, Rayna’s (Connie Britton) former lover and biological father of her oldest child. Along with a regular role on Fox’s “The Crew” and as host of The WB’s “On The Spot,” he had recurring roles on “Married… with Children,” “The Brian Benben Show,” “Party of Five,” “The Office,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “ER,” “Big Love,” “Jessie,” and “Enlightened.” Some of his films roles on TV and big screen are “61*,” “The Postman,” “Water Under the Bridge,” “Thirteen Days,” and “Swing Vote.” In July 2017, Esten became the only artist to ever release 54 consecutive songs via his #EverySingleFriday initiative.
