Interview: AJ Michalka and Brett Dier

Veronica catches up with two of the stars of ABC’s “Schooled,” AJ Michalka and Brett Dier. They talk about their past accomplishments, their love of guitars, and the season 2 finale of “The Goldbergs” spinoff.

Mini-Biography:
Born and raised in Torrance, California, AJ Michalka is a singer and actress. In music, she’s a part of the duo Aly and AJ (also named called 78Violet) with her sister Aly Michalka. In films, she was in “Cow Belles,” “Super Sweet 16: The Movie,” “The Lovely Bones,” “Secretariat,” “Super 8,” “Grace Unplugged,” “Angels in Stardust,” “Weepah Way for Now,” and “Support the Girls.” On TV, Michalka had recurring roles on “Six Feet Under,” “The Guardian,” “Oliver Beene,” and “Hellcats” and made guest appearances on “Passions,” “Silicon Valley,” and “Motive.” She has the lead voice role as Catra on Netflix’s “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” Since 2013, Michalka has been playing Lainey Lewis on ABC’s “The Goldbergs” in a recurring and main cast role. The spinoff “Schooled” started in 2019.

Born on in London, Ontario, Brett Dier appeared on Canadian-based TV shows, including “Bomb Girls” and “The L.A. Complex.” He had lead roles as Luke Matheson on “Ravenswood” and as Detective Michael Cordero Jr. in “Jane the Virgin.” Some of his film roles are “Family in Hiding,” “The Secrets of Comfort House,” “Dear Mr. Gacy,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” “Poker Night,” “Mega Cyclone,” “Exeter,” and “The New Romantic.” Dier has guest-starred on “Aliens in America,” “Smallville,” “Supernatural,” “Endgame,” “Flashpoint,” “The Secret Circle,” “Emily Owens, M.D.,” and “Backstrom.” Dier plays Charlie “C.B.” Brown on “Schooled.”
