Video Content: George Winston (1999) SIDEWALKS ENTERTAINMENT host Cindy Rhodes talked with the Grammy winning pianist, who told us about his long and legendary recording career. In the interview, George gave us the details about his then-new album "Plains." Mini-Biography: Born in Hart, Michigan, George Winston is best known for his solo piano recordings and released his first album in 1972 called "Piano Solos" (later rereleased as "Ballads and Blues 1972"). He found success with his 1980 album, "Autumn," which was followed in 1982 by "Winter into Spring" and "December." The 1994 album, "Forest," earned him a Grammy award for Best New Age Album, while he received other Grammy nominations throughout the years, including one for Best Children's Music Album (performed with actress Meryl Streep) and one for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for his interpretation of works by the rock band The Doors. Along with the piano, the musician also played the guitar and harmonica. Winston started his own record label in 1983 called Dancing Cat Records. Sadly, Mr. Winston died on June 4, 2023 at aged 74.
