SIDEWALKS host Cindy Rhodes interviewed the man who created and produced the long-running reality series, “COPS,” which was moving to then-Spike TV (in the USA) with new episodes. They talked about how the show got started, the popularity of the “COPS'” theme song, and what Langley did outside of television.
Mini-Biography:
John Langley was a television and film director, producer, and writer, who was the creator and executive producer of the long-running show, “COPS.” He made his debut in reality TV by producing “American Vice: The Doping of a Nation.” Some of the other projects his company (Langley Productions) and/or Langley was involved in, include “Who Murdered JFK,” “Terrorism: Target U.S.A.,” “Code 3,” “Anatomy of Crime,” “Video Justice,” “Cop Files,” “Inside American Jail,” “Las Vegas Jailhouse,” “Street Patrol,” “Vegas Strip,” “Road Warriors,” “Jail,” and “Undercover Stings.” Langley also produced/directed indy and documentary films, including “Maximum Potential,” “Dogwatch,” “Tiptoes,” and “Wildside.” Langley received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to television. Langley died of heart attack on June 26, 2021 during an off-road race in Baja California, Mexico. He was 78.
