SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales interviews actor / singer Anna Sawai (“F9,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”), who stars in the epic FX / Hulu miniseries “Shogun.” In addition to working on “Shogun,” they also discuss her music career with Faky and what future acting role she would love to do.

Mini-Biography:

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Anna Sawai plays Toda Mariko in the FX / Hulu miniseries, “Shogun.” At age 10, she moved to Japan and landed her first acting role at age 11 as the title character in the 2004 Nippon TV production of “Annie.” Her film debut came in the neo-noir martial arts film, “Ninja Assassin.” From 2013 to 2018, she became one of the lead vocalists for the girl group, Faky. After leaving the group, Sawai went back into acting with roles in: “Colors,” “Giri/Haji,” and an international breakthrough role as Elle in “F9,” the ninth film in the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise. On TV, she’s in Apple TV+’s”Pachinko” as Naomi and in the MonsterVerse series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” as Cate Randa.
