In this August 2007 interview, host Rafael Siegel spoke to the Grammy®-winning artists about how they met in San Francisco, how the music industry and fans feel about their style of music, and their official website, which features Toni’s blog. Plus, Rafael read a personal email sent to “Sidewalks” from Paula, a diehard Captain and Tennille fan. As part of the promotional tour, Captain and Tennille discuss their roles as animated CGI characters in the direct-to-DVD special, “Casper’s Scare School,” which co-stars the voice talents of Jim Belushi, Phyllis Diller and Bob Saget.
Mini-Biography:
One of the most successful duos in pop history, Captain & Tennille (the husband and wife team of Daryl Dragon and Toni Tennille) have earned five gold albums, six gold singles, two platinum albums and one platinum single. Daryl and Toni have landed on the pop singles chart 14 times with half of them in the Top 10. Some of Captain and Tennille’s hit singles include “Muskrat Love,” “Love Will Keep Us Together,” “Shop Around,” “The Way I Want To Touch You,” “You’ve Never Done It Like That,” “Do That To Me One More Time,” “Come In From The Rain,” and many others. In 1975, the duo won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year with “Love Will Keep Us Together.” In 1976, the duo had their own weekly variety television series on ABC called The Captain & Tennille Show. Additionally, Toni hosted her own nationally syndicated talk show, Toni Tennille Variety Talk Show, in 1980. Dragon died on January 2, 2019 at the age of 76.
