SIDEWALKS host Lori Rosales talks to Omari Hardwick and Loretta Devine about Devine going from Broadway to films, Hardwick’s feelings on the end of Starz’s “Power,” and Devine’s thoughts about Hoodoo in their Paramount Pictures film, “Spell.”

Born in Houston, Texas, Loretta Devine rose to fame in the 1981 Broadway musical “Dreamgirls” and playing Gloria Matthews in “Waiting to Exhale.” For TV audience, she played Marla Hendricks on Fox’s “Boston Public,” Patti Dellacroix on “Eli Stone,” Aunt Honey on “State of Georgia,” Georgia Cummings-Clemens on “The Client List,” and Cynthia Carmichael on “The Carmichael Show,” as well as recurring roles as Stevie Rallen on “A Different World, “Adele Webber on “Grey’s Anatomy,” and Maxine on “Everybody Hates Chris.” On the big screen, Devine can be seen in “The Preacher’s Wife,” “Hoodlum,” “I Am Sam,” “Urban Legend,” “What Women Want,” “Kingdom Come,” “Crash,” “Woman Thou Art Loosed,” “Class Act,” “For Colored Girls,” “This Christmas,” “First Sunday,” “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” and “Jumping the Broom.”
Born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in Decatur, Omari Hardwick played college football at the University of Georgia and tried out for the San Diego Chargers until a knee injury cut his promising NFL career shot. After studying acting in New York, he moved to Los Angeles and got his big break in 2003, when he was cast in Spike Lee’s “Sucker Free City.” Some of his TV series roles include “Saved,” “Dark Blue,” “Being Mary Jane” and “Power.” In films, Hardwick appeared in “For Colored Girls,” “Sparkle,” “Middle of Nowhere,” “I Will Follow,“ “The A-Team,” “Kick-Ass,” “Miracle at St. Anna,” “The Guardian,” “Gridiron Gan,” “A Boy. A Girl. A Dream.,” and “Nobody’s Fool.”
