Hosts Lori Rosales & Richard R. Lee and photographers Rebeca Zuniga, J.P. Langston, Hector Botello, and Muriel Botello attended the 4th Annual Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose, CA on August 19 and 20, 2019.

A three-day event, the concept of Silicon Valley Comic Con (SVCC) is to bring together America’s two greatest superheroes: Pop Culture and Technology. Presented by Steve Wozniak, the true pioneer (along with Apple Computer co-founder Steve Jobs) of the personal computer revolution of the 1970s, SVCC featured celebrities, comics, independent artists, cosplay, video games, consumer electronics, music and apps. In the developers’ mind, Silicon Valley Comic Con is where entertainment and the electronic worlds intersect.

As for the celebrity guests, the SVCC 2019 had Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”); Anson Mount (“Star Trek Discovery”); the “Gotham” couple Ben Mckenzie and Morena Baccarin; Kel Mitchell (“All That”); Adam Savage (“MythBusters”); Joe Flanigan (“Stargate Atlantis”); Alaina Huffman (“Stargate Universe”); WWE’s “Stone Cold” Steve Austin; the “Power Rangers” stars, including Austin St. John, Karan Ashley, Johnny Yong Bosch and David Fielding; and many others. The crowd went crazy when Momoa appeared at his booth.

Along with a strong NASA presence at the event, this year’s highlight panel was a reunion of the actors from the “Terminator” franchise. Film stars Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, Kristanna Loken, Danny Cooksey, Jenette Goldstein and Michael Biehn appeared on stage together, while Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was at the venue taking photos and signing autographs, did not appear in the main ballroom with his co-stars. Many visitors were disappointed that the former California governor didn’t even poke his head out during the panel, since the event was billed as the ULTIMATE Terminator Reunion with Schwarzenegger’s face and name on the promotion. Not sure what happened there.

For us at SIDEWALKS, we tried to get interviews for you with the celebrities. The ones we did get — including Flanigan, Huffman, Mitchell, Ashley, Cooksey, to name a few — were open and appreciative. We did try to arrange an interview with Mount, who was walking past us. The actor, now known as Captain Pike, stopped and explained that his schedule was tight. While we couldn’t get an interview with him that day, the way he stopped for a second and politely told us why he couldn’t do it was heartfelt. What a classy guy. First time, we didn’t mind getting denied for an interview.

As we make episodes featuring the actors that granted us interviews, we will be adding their clip to the website. Please check back and follow us on social media to know when the interviews will be available.
