Edward James Olmos returns to SIDEWALKS and is reunited with Veronica. In this interview, he brings along his co-star J.D. Pardo as the two men talk about past roles and their new characters in FX’s “Mayans M.C.,” a series set in the “Sons of Anarchy” universe.

SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro talks to Edward James Olmos and J.D. Pardo about Mr. Olmos’ career, Pardo’s fans on his previous series “Revolution,” and the two working together on “Mayans M.C.” as father-and son Felipe Reyes and Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes.

Born and raised in East Los Angeles, Edward James Olmos is an actor and director. He is known for memorable roles on TV and films, including playing police Lieutenant Martin Castillo on “Miami Vice”; real-life math teacher Jaime Escalante in “Stand and Deliver”; Abraham Quintanilla in “Selena”; Gaff in “Blade Runner”; and Admiral William Adama in the re-imagined “Battlestar Galactica” series. Throughout his extensive career, Olmos received numerous accolades, including an LA Drama Circle Award, an Emmy® (in addition to three nominations) and two Golden Globe® Awards. In 1988, he received an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Jaime Escalante in “Stand By Me.” At the 35th Annual Saturn Awards in 2009, he received the award for the Best TV Actor for his role in “Battlestar Galactica.” He’s a United States Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and a national spokesperson for the organizations, such as Southwest Voter Registration Project, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the AIDS Awareness Foundation.
Born in Panorama City, California, Jorge Daniel “J. D.” Pardo is known to TV audiences for NBC’s “Revolution” and “American Dreams,” The CW’s “The Messengers,” CBS’ “Clubhouse,” and Hulu’s “East Los High.” In films, he played the half-vampire Nahuel in the second half of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn,” Chu in “Supercross,” Young Santiago in “The Burning Plain,” and Benicio in “Snitch.”
