SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro talks to Vanessa Williams about choosing show biz as a career, finding time between work and being a mom, and starring in VH1’s “Daytime Divas.”
Mini-Biography:
Born in The Bronx, New York, Vanessa Williams is a true entertainer. A short-lived winner of Miss America pageant, she went on to become a singer with successful albums, like “The Right Stuff,” “The Comfort Zone,” “The Sweetest Days,” “Everlasting Love,” and “The Real Thing.” Her acting film credits include “Soul Food,” “Eraser,” “Dance With Me,” “Shaft,” “Johnson Family Vacation,” ”My Brother,” “And Then Came Love,” and “Hannah Montana: The Movie.” On TV, Williams was a regular on “Ugly Betty,” “Desperate Housewives,” “South Beach,” and “666 Park Avenue,” as well as had recurring roles on “Boomtown,” “Royal Pains,” “L.A. Doctors,” “The Good Wife,” and “The Librarians.” Additionally, Williams used her voice as the lead character in “Mama Mirabelle’s Home Movies.” She co-wrote the book, “You Have No Idea: A Famous Daughter, Her No-nonsense Mother, and How They Survived Pageants, Hollywood, Love, Loss (and Each Other).” In 2007, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
