SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro talks to director Tom McGrath and producer Ramsey Ann Naito about the DreamWorks Animation’s animated “Boss Baby,” starring the voices of Alec Baldwin, Miles Christopher Bakshi, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow and Tobey Maguire. The film is about a suit-wearing briefcase-carrying baby (voice of Baldwin), who pairs up with his seven-year old brother (Bakshi) to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co.
Mini-Biographies:
Born and raised in Lynnwood, Washington, Tom McGrath is a director, animator, and voice actor. He co-directed (with Eric Darnell) “Madagascar and its sequels, “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” and “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.” In those feature films, follow-up short films, and “The Penguins of Madagascar” TV series, he was also the voice of Skipper. He also directed DreamWorks’ “Megamind.” McGrath was an animator on projects, such as “Cool World,” “Space Jam,” and “Hercules and Xena – The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus.” His voice was also heard in other DreamWorks animated features like “Flushed Away” and “Shrek the Third.”
From New York, Ramsey Ann Naito’s past positions, before coming to DreamWorks Animation, was producer at Blue Sky Animation Studios and Head of Movies at The Cartoon Network. Some of her animated executive and producer credits are “Barnyard,” “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie,” “The Wild Thornberry’s Movie,” “Rugrats in Paris: The Movie,” “Hey Arnold! The Movie,” “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” “Firebreather,” and “South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut.” Other producing credits include the live actions “Level Up,” “Ben 10: Alien Swarm,” “Ben 10: Race Against Time,” and “Re-Animated.” Naito is a member of the Producer’s Guild of America and Women In Film.
