John Turturro talks to SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro about his first professional gig and working with Woody Allen and the other cast members on his film, “Fading Gigolo,” which co-stars Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Paradis, and Liev Schreiber.

Mini-Biography:
Born in Brooklyn, New York, John Turturro is a talented actor, writer and director. He is known for films “Do the Right Thing,” “Miller’s Crossing,” “Barton Fink,” “Quiz Show,” “The Big Lebowski,” “ O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” and the “Transformers” movie series.

His first film appearance was a non-speaking extra role in “Raging Bull,” while Turturro made his theatrical debut in the lead role in “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.”

He has collaborated with Spike Lee in nine films (“Mo’ Better Blues,” ”Jungle Fever,” “Clockers,” “Girl 6,” “He Got Game,” “Summer of Sam,” “She Hate Me,” “Miracle at St. Anna”); The Cowen Brothers (“Miller’s Crossing,” “Barton Fink,” “The Big Lebowski,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?); and Adam Sandler (“Mr. Deeds,” “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan”).

Other films include “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3,” “Collateral Damage,” ”Anger Management,” ”The Good Shepherd,” “Secret Window,” “Rounders,” “Illuminata” (also producer, director, actor), and “Romance and Cigarettes” (wrote, directed).

On stage, he starred in “La Puta Vida Trilogy,” “Italian American Reconciliation,” “Endgame,” “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui,” “Souls of Naples,” and “Life (x) 3.” Turturro has also directed plays, including “A Spanish Play” and “Relatively Speaking,” three one-act comedies by Ethan Coen, Elaine May, and Woody Allen.
