Jack brings Living Positive by Design
Originally from
the Seattle, Washington area, Jack Mackenroth
is a fashion designer and model.
He is best known to TV audiences for competing in
the 4th season of Project Runway. Jack
withdrawed from the competition because of a staph
infection.
In 1991, Jack studied Fashion Design at Parsons
School of Design. After Parsons, Jack opened a
menswear store called Jack, where he also showcased
new designers. In 1997, he worked for Tommy Hilfiger
in 2007 and was the Design Director at Weatherproof
Active Wear starting in 2003.
In the brief 2009 interview with host Maaika Westen,
taped at the Academy of Friends benefit in San
Francisco, Jack, who is HIV-positive, talks about
Living Positive By Design, a national HIV and AIDS
education campaign that has partnerships with
Merck and
HIV and AIDS
community organizations across
the country. The Living Positive By Design campaign
seeks to help combat the stigma associated with HIV
by engaging people in thoughtful conversation about
the condition.
Since starting Living Positive By Design, he has had
events in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the
2008 United States Conference on AIDS (USCA); in
Atlanta, Georgia, at the Atlanta AIDS Walk; in New
York, New York, at the Gay Men’s Health Crisis’ (GMHC)
annual Fashion Forward fundraiser; and in San
Francisco, California at the Academy of Friends’
annual Academy Awards Night Gala.
