Our original interview with The Judds in
2000 and
new 2009 interview with Naomi
Grammy AwardŽ winners The Judds are Naomi
Judd and her daughter, Wynonna.
They signed with RCA Records in 1983 and became a
popular country music duo. As The Judds, they
recorded more than ten studio albums, as well as had
fourteen number one singles.
In 1991, Naomi was forced to retire due to
hepatitis C. Meanwhile, Wynonna continued in music and started
a successful solo career.
Mom and daughter did reunite as The Judds in 1999
and 2000. Recently, they have performed at various
events, including the 2008 Stagecoach Festival in
Indio, California and shows in Canada.
In the January
2000 interview (available in Real video below), the
mother-and-daughter country act talked to SIDEWALKS'
Cindy Rhodes via satellite about their reunion tour, Wynonna's CD, Naomi's illness, and, basically, what
life is like for a Judd woman.
In the 2009 interview (available above) with SIDEWALKS host
Rafael Siegel, Naomi talks about how The Judds got
started and her role as judge on Can You Duet?,
the weekly music
competition series from the American Idol
producers that will seek to find country music's
next great duo.
