Supermodel wants to help women
with the Ask 4 Tell 4 campaign
A native of Buffalo, New York, Beverly Johnson is an
internationally-famous supermodel, actress, and
businesswoman.
She is the first African-American supermodel ever to
grace the cover of American "Vogue," and again made
history as the first African-American woman to grace
the cover of French "Elle." Beverly has appeared in
more than 500 magazine covers around the globe.
Beverly began her career as an actress in the
feature film "Deadly Hero," which was followed by
"Crossroads," "54," "Loaded Weapon 1," "How to Be a
Player," "A Brilliant Disguise," "Meteor Man," "Down
N' Dirty," and "Ashanti."
Beverly has also guest-starred on such television
series as Law & Order, Lois & Clark: the
New Adventures of Superman, Hunter,
The Wayan Bros., Sabrina, The Teenage Witch,
and 3rd Rock from the Sun.
In this 2008 interview with SIDEWALKS host Cindy
Rhodes, Beverly talks about her modeling career,
being a businesswoman with her own wig company, and
how proud she is of her daughter, Anansa, who is
also a model. As part of the
promotional tour, Beverly also talks about Ask 4
Tell 4, a campaign to empower women with the facts
about uterine fibroids.
