Emile talks about `Milk` and more
Born in Topanga, California, Emile Hirsch is
a rising film actor.
In 2007, he garnered attention for his performance
as real-life adventurer Christopher McCandless in
"Into the Wild," which was directed by Sean Penn
(later his co-star in "Milk"). The portrayal earned
him the National Board of Review award for
Breakthrough Performance by an Actor; the Rising
Star Award from the Palm Springs International Film
Festival; Gotham and Critics' Choice Award
nominations for Best Actor; and two Screen Actors
Guild Award nominations, in the lead actor category
as well as (shared with his fellow cast members) the
ensemble category.
His other film credits include "Alpha Dog," "Lords
of Dogtown," "Speed Racer," "Imaginary Heroes," "The
Girl Next Door," "The Mudge Boy," "The Emperor's
Club," "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" and
"Taking Woodstock."
Before appearing in films, he appeared on the small
screen on such series as Third Rock from the Sun, Kindred: the Embraced,
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and NYPD Blue.
