Steve on Hamlet 2
Born and raised in Manchester, U.K., actor and
comedian Steve Coogan is best known in the
United Kingdom as Alan Partridge, the sports
reporter-turned-television chat show
host-turned-regional radio presenter.
As Alan Partridge, he appeared in character in
The Day Today, Knowing Me, Knowing
You... with Alan Partridge and I'm Alan
Partridge.
In 1992, he won the Perrier Award for his show
Steve Coogan In Character With John Thompson, on
which he launched his character Paul Calf. Paul
became a regular on Saturday Zoo, where Steve
then introduced a new character, Paul's sister
Pauline Calf. He went on to write and perform in
The Paul Calf Video Diaries, earning his first
BAFTA Award nomination for his performance of
Pauline Calf's video diary '"Three Fights, Two
Weddings, and a Funeral."
For BBC2, he wrote and starred in his own series,
Coogan's Run.
Film roles include in "The Indian in the Cupboard,"
"The Wind in the Willows," "The Fix," "Coffee and
Cigarettes," "Around the World in 80 Days," "Happy
Endings," "Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story,"
"Marie Antoinette," "A Night at the Museum" and its
forthcoming sequel, "Safety Glass," "Finding
Amanda," and "Tropic Thunder."
