Sarah on `Roseanne,` `Scrubs,` and `Maneater`
Born in Ottawa and raised in Vancouver, Canada,
Sarah Chalke began appearing in local musical
theatre productions at only 8 years old.
She became an environmental reporter for the
Canadian television series, Kid Zone.
Sarah became a TV actress when she was cast as
daughter Becky Conner on the classic television
series Roseanne.
Current TV viewers know her as Dr. Elliott Reid on
the hit television series Scrubs.
Additionally, she guest-starred in multiple episodes
of How I Met Your Mother as Ted's girlfriend
Stella Zinman.
Sarah has also starred in the Williamstown Theatre
Festival production of “Create Fate” and the
successful run of the Off-Broadway production of
“Modern Orthodox,” as well as the feature film
“Chaos Theory” opposite Ryan Reynolds and Stuart
Townsend.
Sarah enjoys cooking with friends, hiking,
snowboarding, and skiing (she is a ski instructor).
She also speaks fluent French and German and
volunteers at a hospice for terminally ill children.
In this 2009 interview with SIDEWALKS host
Cindy Rhodes, Sarah talks about she got her start,
her first experience on Roseanne, and what attracted
her to accept the role on Scrubs.
As part of the promotional tour, Sarah tells us
about the Lifetime miniseries, "Maneater," a tale of
the spoiled Clarissa (played by Chalke). Upon
confronting her 32nd birthday (although she will
admit only to being 28), Clarissa panics about still
being single and, being accustomed to always getting
what she wants, derives an elaborate plan with the
help of her family and friends to lasso the hottest
new producer in Tinseltown whom she dreams will be
the man to put a ring on her finger.
