Ozzie Ahlers, whose music is heard throughout the latest episodes
of Sidewalks and Sidewalks: Video Nite, has been
described as "Keyboardist Extraordinaire" by Music Connection
magazine and hails from a rich musical background.
Ozzie first came to California playing piano in Van Morrison`s band. Then,
he was pianist and songwriter on four albums for Jesse Colin Young.
Next, Ozzie joined forces with Jerry Garcia in the Jerry Garcia Band. He
toured with the band for two years. During that time, he also gained additional
musical notoriety winning the Cannes Film Festival award with his film
score for the movie, "Northern Lights."
Ozzie is also a co-producer and songwriter with guitarist Craig Chaquico
on Craig's four solo CDs, "Acoustic Highway,""Acoustic Planet,"
"A Thousand Pictures," and "Once In A Blue Universe."
In 1997, Ozzie released his first solo CD entitled "Fingerpainting."
Available on Higher Octave Music, this CD features other artists such as
Peter White, Jimmy Dillon, Mario Cippolina, Wade Olson, Jim Reitzel &
Kevin Palladini. Each of the songs represents a movement in his musical
path. His style is drawn from a wide array of influences, ranging from
Jazz & Rock to Soul & Blues. An extremely beautiful piece of work,
pristine yet very soulful.
