Dee
Jones
Longtime
favorite is making appearances on Sidewalks
Entertainment Television and continues to
entertain on tour.
For the old Sidewalks viewers, she is best known as Denise Yvonne,
but now she is back as Dee Jones (she changed
the name during a successful post-Sidewalks singing career).
The
Chicago native has been in the industry for the last 20 years. She is an
accomplished vocalist and actress, who has been in several plays and numerous
bit parts in commercials, TV series, and movies, including ABC's Fortune
Dane, "The Principle," and "The Presidio."
Dee first appeared on the award-winning Sidewalks series in 1990,
when co-host Mel Menefee wanted her as the replacement for a previous
host that was leaving. Nicknamed "The Hostess with the Mostest,"
she brought quick wit, a bubbling personality, and energy to spare.
"Dee
is an entertainer," says executive producer Richard R. Lee.
"She can sing, dance, and act. When you see Dee in action, you can
feel the energy coming from her. She and Mel made a great pair. They both
knew how to play off each other. When she left the show in 1993 to finish
her college education, her departure created a void that we at Sidewalks
haven't been able to fill when it came to successful duo hosting segments."
Dee did return to make some appearances throughout the years, most notably
on several of the Sidewalks Holiday Toy Specials.
Away from the show, she is still singing on stage. She and her husband
have formed their own popular musical duo, "Dee and Jay."
They have been featured with several San Francisco Bay Area bands including
Simply the Best, James Gentleman Jims, and Power Play.

and Jay section on Sidewalks Special
